Our principal, Abang Iwawan, is an active member of the Malaysian Bar Council Human Rights Committee and chairs the Empowerment Sub-Committee which was formed to make human rights practice more accessible to young practitioners through a series of initiatives. [Find Out More]
Abang Iwawan also actively volunteers for the Refugees and Asylum Seekers Legal Aid Scheme jointly organised by the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) and Kuala Lumpur Legal Aid Centre.
YSCL Cares
Under Iwawan’s leadership, the YSCL introduced “YSCL Cares”, a community outreach initiative to raise awareness and provide a platform for the youth and young professionals to collaborate with public bodies and explore ways to curb current issues nationwide.

The webinar discussed the principle of the basic structure doctrine including its historical background and origins, its inception in Malaysia, as well as the Maria Chin v Ketua Pengarah Imegresen case and its impact on the constitutional landscape in Malaysia.
